Hydrophilic material is water-based and at times can be firmer than hydrophobic material, although it is still malleable enough to easily be injected.
Although, hydrophilic and hydrophobic materials are both accepted in the industry, it comes down to doctor preference.
There are multiple benefits to using hydrophilic material for IOLs. One example in particular is that they are a more durable plastic than hydrophobic and can withstand our intricate polishing process for optimal quality.
